“Purely and simply – they sound and feel great. When I got my first beater Iggy’s front of house guy and I tested them out. I played with my standard beater, and then switched to my Low Boy and it immediately made the bass drum sound fatter and bigger. This was a straight out professional thing, our sound guy noticed the difference straight away – and that was enough for me.

On top of this they’re things of beauty! I love the look of my beaters and they feel so much better than anything else. Jeremy and the team are great guys making a beautiful beater. I’m proud to use these beaters and be part of the Low Boy team.”

As part of Iggy Pop’s band since 2015 Mat has become widely known for his hard-hitting groove and stylistic adaptability. This was showcased in his work with the immersive and visceral live rock/film show Gutteredammerung, during which he worked with the likes of Grace Jones and Henry Rollins. Most recently Mat has also taken on drumming duties with English indie rock superstars Razorlight, completing a number of UK tours.

Prior to joining Iggy Pop, Mat worked with Thomas Dolby for a number of years, completing multiple US and world tours. He also recorded on his last studio album “A Map Of The Floating City” as well the live album “Thomas Dolby – Live in Tokyo” and appeared with Thomas on the anniversary edition of “The Old Grey Whistle Test”.

In addition to working with Iggy, Razorlight, Gutterdammerung and Thomas Dolby Mat took the drumming seat alongside legendary Bowie pianist Mike Garson on the Aladdin Sane tour. This year has also seen Mat complete a number of live dates with Marc Almond, and studio work with Japanese mega-star Hotei.
