“Any other beater I play just doesn’t feel right since I first tried a Lightweight Low Boy Beater six years ago. I actually got one of the very first Felt Daddies…lucky me! Whether it’s a Leather Daddy on the stage, a Puff Daddy in the studio, or a Felt Daddy just about anywhere, there is simply no better choice than Low Boy.”

Richard is a freelance drummer in the LA area who has been playing live and recording with southern California rock band The Growlers since 2016. His playing can be heard on their last three records, “City Club” (2016) , “Casual Acquaintances” (2018), and “Natural Affair” (2019) and they’ve toured the world many times over from 2016 up to the present.
Previous to his time in The Growlers, he toured and recorded with LA artist/producer Jonathan Wilson, appearing on his 2013 album “Fanfare”. He also played drums on all of Nick Waterhouse’s 2014 album “Holly” and toured with him for a good part of 2014 in between tours with Wilson. After finishing up with Jonathan Wilson’s Fanfare touring cycle he got connected with San Francisco-based bands Vetiver and Sonny & the Sunsets for both live and studio work. Sonny Smith’s Dan Auerbach produced 2018 album “Rod For Your Love” was a highlight from this period.
Since relocating to Los Angeles from Florida, Richard has played live and recorded with numerous other artists including but not limited to Grateful Shred, Graham Nash, Jim Keltner, Father John Misty, Leslie Stevens, Joe Walsh, Bob Weir, John Fogerty, the Tyde, Pierre DeReeder, Jon Brion, Benmont Tench, Mike Campbell, Neal Casal, Dave Sardy, Nik Freitas, Biirdie, Tiffany Anders, Ferraby Lionheart, Henry Wolfe, Charlie Wadhams and Robert Francis.
With a comfort in any musical situation, Richard brings a lot of experience and creativity to the table, employing a background in multi percussion and jazz and classical music to each gig.
